Military to Maker

I’m an Officer in the United States Army. I’ve been in the Army for 13 years and I’ve been in the Infantry with an assortment of schools and awards, had Two deployments to Iraq, a stint as an insurgent Commander at the National Training Center, a recruiter, a Staff Officer, an Exercise Designer, and am currently a fish out of water in a place called the Joint Warfare Analysis Center. Somewhere along the way, about the same time that I decided I really liked Calculus (too many blows to the head to explain this one), I found that I gained more satisfaction from making something with my own two hands (and tools) than I ever could cranking out a power point presentation. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the Army, and I always will, but that cannot be the only thing that defines who I am and who I want to be. I want to make things. All kinds of things. Clothing, furniture, robots and rockets; and as I make this stuff, I’m going to write about it here. I’m going from Military to Maker.
